As…as: equality and inequality
Quick answer. Use as + adjective + as when two people or things are equal in one quality: Mia is as patient as Leo. Use not as/so + adjective + as when they are not equal: This task is not as difficult as the last one. Do not put a comparative form such as better or faster inside this pattern.

In sentence 6, not so difficult as is also possible. In neutral modern English, not as difficult as is more common.
Typical mistakes with as…as
as taller as→ as tall as: use the base adjective.as tall than→ as tall as: the pattern ends with as, not than.not so tall than→ not so tall as.twice taller thanin this exercise → twice as tall as.- Use many with countable plural nouns and much with uncountable nouns.
Thirty-second self-check
Compare two books that have the same price: Book A is as expensive as Book B. Now make them unequal: Book A is not as expensive as Book B. If the adjective stays in its base form in both sentences, the structure is correct.
